Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is the manual manipulation of soft body tissues (muscle, connective tissue, tendons and ligaments) to enhance a person’s health and well-being. There are many types of massage therapy methods (also called modalities). People seek massage therapy for a variety of reasons; for example, to reduce stress and anxiety, to relax muscles, to rehabilitate injuries, to reduce pain and to promote overall health and wellness.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is an old healing practice of traditional Chinese medicine dating back over 4,000 years. It still remains effective today as a way to strengthen the body rather than merely treating symptoms. It is primarily used to relieve pain as well as treat other conditions. More than 3 million Americans and 200,000 children in the U.S. have had acupuncture to help relieve a symptom or condition. Because of its low side effects, it has been the treatment of choice for many doctors across the country. It is even more popular in other countries.
Kinesio Taping
Kinesiology Taping is a precise rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints. This technique allows the body’s normal range of motion as well as providing extending soft tissue manipulation to prolong the benefits of manual therapy administered within the clinical setting. Kinesio tape is latex-free and hypoallergenic which makes it “skin friendly” for patients with sensitive or fragile skin; such as, patients with diabetes, fibromyalgia or rheumatoid arthritis.
Spinal Screenings
Sometimes all that stands between your daily pain and a happier, healthier you, is a chiropractic adjustment. Your body naturally wants to be in alignment, and our daily activities can throw what is naturally aligned out of balance. Also known as chiropractic manipulation, manual manipulation, or spinal manipulation, chiropractic adjustment refers to the manipulation of the vertebrae that have abnormal movements and are not functioning properly. Here at Living Health Well Center, we can help you achieve balance and proper alignment, giving you relief and improving your health.
Our goal in treating your joint and spinal issues is to reduce subluxation, increase range of motion, reduce nerve irritability, and improve mobility. Our highly skilled chiropractor will work with you to relieve your pain and get you back to living a pain free and healthy lifestyle.
Regenerative Medicine
Living Health Well Center is proud to treat patients through the application of regenerative medicine. Regenerative Medicine promotes the repair of the body by helping restore degenerative tissue. Treatments offered in our office are a great alternative to painful surgeries and some harmful and addictive medications. Our medical and rehabilitation staff utilize our in-house diagnostic equipment to help diagnose a patient’s condition and work as a team to customize a treatment plan that works best for each individual patient.
Many clients can achieve their goals with chiropractic adjustments, stretching, exercise and nutritional changes. However, some clients may need further medical services that may require treatment of an infection with antibiotics or possibly need joint injections to get them to achieve their objectives. This new regenerative approach to your healthcare will allow us to better fully serve your ultimate needs.
Pain Management
Trigger Point Injections - Trigger points are small knots that are the result of muscles remaining abnormally tight or stressed for a prolonged period of time. The knots can be felt under the skin and, at times, can be extremely painful. They can also irritate nerves in the area causing tingling and numbness. Trigger point injections involve injecting a saline solution that contains an anesthetic into the trigger point, eliminating the pain and discomfort. Trigger point injections are considered to be an outpatient procedure and can be performed in the doctor's office without any type of anesthesia. One or two injections will often provide sustained relief and prevent the trigger point from flaring up again.
Rehabilitation Services
Because we take a whole body approach to treatment, we offer rehabilitation services after an injury or during the recovery phase and offer the most advanced techniques to tap into the body's natural healing processes.
Headache and Migraine Treatment
What causes chronic headaches?
Headaches can occur for many different reasons, including chronic stress, anxiety, depression, and other emotional issues, or from physical causes like muscle strain, soft tissue injury, circulation problems and nervous system issues, including pinched nerves and overactive nerves. Chronic headaches including migraines can be debilitating, affecting every aspect of a person's life. The first step in treating headaches is to have a physical exam with a complete medical history aimed at identifying possible causes so treatment can be customized and targeted for better results and improved overall health.
Joint Health
Some of the conditions we treat are
- Arthritis
- Carpal tunnel
- Fybromyalga
What is arthritis?
Arthritis is a disease that affects the surfaces of the joints, causing the protective layer of cartilage that lines most joints to break down. Although the risk of osteoarthritis is greatest among older men and women, it can occur at any age. In addition to the natural effects of aging, arthritis can also develop in a joint following an injury. A second type of arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, is an autoimmune disease that causes the immune system to attack the joint tissues. There is no cure for either type of arthritis, but there are ways to manage pain, reduce stiffness and improve joint mobility.
What are the symptoms of arthritis?
The most common symptoms of both osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis are pain and stiffness in the affected joint, decreased range of motion in the joint and often, warmth or swelling in the area around the joint. When most people think of arthritis, they think of it affecting the hands, hips or knees, but arthritis can occur in any joint, including the neck and other areas of the spine.
What is Carpal tunnel syndrome?
Carpal tunnel syndrome is caused by pressure on the median nerve. The carpal tunnel is a narrow passageway surrounded by bones and ligaments on the palm side of your hand. When the median nerve is compressed, the symptoms can include numbness, tingling and weakness in the hand and arm.
The anatomy of your wrist, health problems and possibly repetitive hand motions can contribute to carpal tunnel syndrome.
Symptoms
Carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms usually start gradually and include:
· Tingling or numbness. You may notice tingling and numbness in your fingers or hand. Usually the thumb and index, middle or ring fingers are affected, but not your little finger. You might feel a sensation like an electric shock in these fingers.
The sensation may travel from your wrist up your arm. These symptoms often occur while holding a steering wheel, phone, or newspaper, or may wake you from sleep.
Many people "shake out" their hands to try to relieve their symptoms. The numb feeling may become constant over time.
· Weakness. You may experience weakness in your hand and drop objects. This may be due to the numbness in your hand or weakness of the thumb's pinching muscles, which are also controlled by the median nerve.
What is Fibromyalgia?
Fibromyalgia is a disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain accompanied by fatigue, sleep, memory, and mood issues.
Many people who have fibromyalgia also have tension headaches, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, irritable bowel syndrome, anxiety, and depression.
While there is no cure for fibromyalgia, a variety of treatments can help control symptoms. Exercise, relaxation, and stress-reduction measures also may help.
What are the symptoms of Fibromyalgia?
· Widespread pain. The pain associated with fibromyalgia often is described as a constant dull ache that has lasted for at least three months. To be considered widespread, the pain must occur on both sides of your body and above and below your waist.
· Fatigue. People with fibromyalgia often awaken tired, even though they report sleeping for long periods of time. Sleep is often disrupted by pain, and many patients with fibromyalgia have other sleep disorders, such as restless legs syndrome and sleep apnea.
· Cognitive difficulties. A symptom commonly referred to as "fibro fog" impairs the ability to focus, pay attention and concentrate on mental tasks.
Auto Accidents
Even a “minor” crash can result in serious injuries like ligament sprains. This can lead to chronic pain and disability if not treated properly. In fact, research shows that early treatment is the best way to prevent long-term symptoms. Chiropractic adjustments are effective because they help restore the healthy, normal function of your nervous system without the use of drugs or surgery.
Some of the symptoms seen in auto injury patients include:
- Chronic Pain
- Dizziness or Vertigo
- Headache
- Jaw Pain
- Low Back Pain
- Neck Pain
- Radicular Pain
- Shoulder Pain
- Thoracic Outlet Syndrome
